How our public figures are compiled

Common principles

The homepage presents concise, traceable cumulative figures; detailed notes are collected here. Training hours combine the confirmed old-platform baseline and current-platform certificate-based hours. The current-platform component retains the internal report’s eligibility and deduplication rules. Different units and overlapping periods are not simply added.

• The cut-off is the last day of the previous Hong Kong calendar month, followed by a monthly refresh. Public figures are rounded-down bands;
• Account creation and certificate issue dates are filtered against the month-end cut-off. Confirmation, deletion, suspension, guest, site-administrator and profile status are assessed at generation time, not from a historical identity snapshot;
• If data does not load, uses the old basis or has an outdated monthly cut-off, the page shows “— / Data updating” with no legacy-number fallback. If a new generation fails without replacing the existing file, a prior successful result for the same cut-off may still appear; it does not prove that the latest generation succeeded.

HKAWM members

Only eligible accounts whose voluntary membership field contains solely “1” after trimming and deduplication are counted. Blank, missing or contradictory values are not counted as members. Membership is hidden below 1,000, then rounded down to the nearest hundred: 1,000–1,099 appears as “1,000+”. Self-declared membership does not independently verify identity, employer or licence status.

Member organisations

Self-declared organization names from eligible members are trimmed, with blanks and placeholders recognized by current internal monthly report excluded. Exact text values are deduplicated and rounded down to the nearest ten. Case, language, abbreviation, punctuation, group and subsidiary variants are not automatically merged. This measures name coverage in current self-declared records, not a verified count of legal entities.

Cumulative training hours

Cumulative training hours combine the old platform’s 670-hour baseline through 31 December 2025 and eligible current-platform certificate-based hours from 1 January 2026 to the month-end shown. HKAWM has confirmed the historical aggregate; this release does not claim an independent record-by-record historical audit.

Current-platform hours use eligible non-administrator learners’ certificates and configured course durations; HKAWM membership is not required. Each run recomputes unrounded current-platform hours and adds the historical baseline once. Previous public totals and archived monthly reports are not summed. Internal monthly reports retain their original periods and definitions; the matching current-platform component can be reconciled, while the public cumulative total also includes the baseline.

The generator checks duplicate learner/course certificates, duplicate or blank certificate codes and course-hour mappings. Material anomalies stop publication and preserve the last valid data and date. The combined figure is rounded down to a 100-hour band; for example, 815.5 hours is displayed as 800+.

This is an operational training-hours measure, not login or video viewing time. It does not imply CPT/CPD recognition by the SFC, another regulator or an employer.

RO/LR and regulated activities

Members’ self-reported RO/LR and regulated-activity data are separate from the SFC’s official industry-wide statistics. The homepage does not display member self-reported proportions or extrapolate them to the industry. Existing internal data rules and sample thresholds are retained.

Hong Kong licensing overview

Updated in line with official publications. One corporation or individual may hold permissions for several regulated activities; category counts must not be summed as unique totals. Corporation counts exclude registered institutions. RO/AO and LR follow the classifications in the official tables. Types 11 and 12 are not in operation. Type 13 covers fund depositary services, not virtual asset licensing. This page does not imply SFC approval or endorsement.

Licensed individuals combine the LR and RO/AO groups in the official tables and are checked against the official total. Unique corporation totals are not calculated by summing activity categories. A low-frequency daily check reads official workbooks. All tables must pass period, completeness and count checks before publication. No new release or a failed check leaves the last valid figures and their actual statistical date in place.
